The theme of the current fortnightly challenge at Anything But A Card is steampunk. I love steampunk, but it isn’t a style I do very often so don’t have a huge amount of supplies to use. Or so I thought, until I came to do my Design Team piece:
This is a small matchbox shrine/assemblage (I never know the difference) using some lovely wooden pieces that I picked up ages ago from Crafty Emblies. I started by covering the inside of the matchbox with some crumpled tissue and painting it metallic bronze and black. The outside of the box has been covered with some Tim Holtz tissue tape. I also popped a piece of black muslin on the top of the box.
All the wooden embellishments were covered with bronze and gold gilding wax plus a smidge of black paint just to add to the industrial feel.
The butterfly wings were made using a Spellbinders die and thin chipboard. I painted both sides with metallic acrylic paints.
The finishing touches are some Card Candi dots, a strip of lace, a chit-chat sticker and a little rose that I made out of brown paper. Then I spotted a little red glittery heart lying around doing nothing so decided to add that to the corset.
Do make sure you see what the rest of the ABAC DT have been up to – Susan has made an amazing button fairy that I wish I had thought of, plus the cutest octopus and Julia has produced the most gorgeous ATC. You still have another week to share something with us. PS – make sure you leave a comment on my pinned post above, you can win a stash of crafty goodies and help me to support Amy and Friends at the same time.
