Simple love heart

I hope anyone visiting from the UK survived last night’s storms. My work colleague is now without electricity and I’m very pleased not to be travelling anywhere my train today as I think that would have been a nightmare. The bright sunshine this morning is a total contrast to yesterday evening.

Now I know I said I would give my Darkroom Door String Inspiration stamps a break but I have to tell you they are back again today, sorry. And there is a butterfly too,Β πŸ™‚

I started making this at the weekend but never got it finished until now. I used some gold jewellery wire and covered it with strips of book page. You can’t really see that it’s book page but it does give a vintage type look. Once dry, I shaped it into the heart and added the ribbon.

I punched out leaves and blossoms from more book pages and then inked them a little with Vintage Photo distress ink. Once they were stuck on I added pearls to the centres. (Is it me, or is it quite some time since I used pearls?!)

P1070311I stamped and punched out a little butterfly in the same way.

The finishing touch was to add a little gold glitter.

This would just about fit on a standard sized card but I prefer it as a little decoration. I shall be sharing it over at City Crafter Challenge blog for their current challenge – use the word love.

Aside from the weather, the last three days have been a bit of a whirlwind for me workwise. I delivered my first training course where participants had an exam at the end. I thought the days of exam stress and worry were long gone, but no, here I am worrying on behalf of the twenty delegates who attended the course. Somehow that’s worse!

  1. Weather here in New York City is horrendous. With my husband in hospital I’m not a happy camper and being unable to move around makes everything worse. Love your project and I will be trying thistoday as there is no way I can venture outside. Would be very sad if I also fell. Have a wonderful day.

    • Oh Lesline, so sorry to hear your husband is in hospital and the weather is stopping you from getting out. Please, please take care of you xx

  2. Oh my your heart is divine. So sweet and delicate. I must show this to my grandson…he loves loves loves Valentine’s Day. It’s his favorite holiday and he’s quite the love bug.

    • Thank you Sandra. So sweet, your grandson loves Valentine’s Day – I think you celebrate it differently to the way we do over here and, from what I read, your way is best!! I’ve always bought my sons a little sweet treat for Valentines, but last year they got a bit cross as they thought it was sad if the only Valentine was from their Mum! So this year, I have done nothing for them πŸ™

  3. Love your heart and the clever use of your stamp too! I am sure your students will do fine, after all, they had a great teacher! ~Diane

  4. So far we have been lucky and have missed the worse of the weather – not that it stops me worrying about it. I am please you did not fair too badly last night, lets hope that is the last you see of it.

Your heart project is gorgeous, so delicate and so sweet. By the way, I am loving the glitter and pearls.

    Dionne xx
