In addition to the current “five” themed mini challenge over at Anything But A Card, the spotlight challenge, as set by the very talented Brenda Burfeind, is running alongside it. The spotlight provides the chance for you to learn more about the ABAC Design Team and then join in with their challenge theme. Brenda is showcasing some amazing jewellery and would like to see projects that incorporate marbling. I knew immediately that this was an opportunity for a little bit of melt pot marvelousness:
This is probably the simplest project ever and yet the finished result is, even if I do say so myself(!), stunning results for very little effort!
I melted some Cosmic Shimmer Tropic Red UTEE, together with some clear, and then sprinkled in some gold mica powder and the tiniest bit of black UTEE. I drew the spatula through it to create marbling and then simply poured into the bezel. I found it much easier to pour into the larger bezel that the smaller ones that I used previously. The great thing is that once cool, the shape releases easily so you can use it independently if you wish.
Thanks for buzzing by.
Lisette it’s beautiful I loved that marble effect that you get with adding mica powder. I also love your heart shape, I didn’t see that one yet I have the symmetrical heart shape only.
Thank you. I need to seek out some alternative bezels as they make it sooo easy!
Fantastic. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thanks Lesline.
What a gorgeous and FUN heart!! I bought a melting pot years ago and have never used it š You have inspire me!
Thanks Char. I had mine for over a year before I found the nerve – I did a workshop and there was no looking back š
Any excuse to get your melt pot out.
Very pretty effect, I love the gold running through the red. Will you hang it on your Christmas Tree?

I know – I dithered for a long time about colour too but in the end I couldn’t not do red. I love your idea about the Christmas tree – there is actually a bigger size heart. Watch this space! XX
Wow, wow, wow, that is stunning! Love the marbled gold in there, just gorgeous! ~Diane
Thank you – it was making a piece like this that seduced me into buying the Melt Pot!
