Back in the autumn, I had a little phase of making matchbook notebooks. They were so easy and fun to do I had to take out a restraining order on myself to stop me from continually making them. I was pleased to be reminded about them by my fellow Anything But A Card Design Team member Julia, who made a Valentine matchbook for this month’s ABAC tic-tac-toe challenge. Instead of a notebook, Julia has made hers as a holder for love notes and tokens. I love the idea and decided to give it a go.
I’m sharing this over at Sunday Stampers where this week’s theme is black and gold.
You can see the details of how I made the basic matchbook here. However, this time I made a single flap across the bottom. I loved Julia’s idea of embossing the cover and then lining it on the inside. So, once I’d cut and scored the cover, I used an M’Bossabilities folder through my Grand Calibur.
Then I lined the inside with a strip of red card. Instead of stapling the flap I just used a little glue along the very bottom. I used one of my favourite Darkroom Door stamps for the sentiment on the inside.
The finishing touch was to add the tiny key, threaded with a scrap of red ribbon.
For the love notes/tokens I stamped different heart images and heat embossed them in gold. The little hearts are by PaperArtsy and all the others. including the one on the front, are by Hero Arts.
Now all I have to do is think of some nice treats for Mr Beez and write them on the back. Now I’m fairly sure he’d love the opportunity to do the washing up for a month and I know he’s desperate to do a week’s worth of ironing! Just need to think of one more thing …
Thanks for buzzing by.
