Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s Day to you and your families. Today I have the second of my Design Team projects that I did for Anything But A Card where the current fortnightly challenge is “Masculine of remembering dear old dad”.

This started life as an old wooden icon that had ruined trying to colour it with Dylusions, but that was another story. I used lots of clock images, from the Gecko Galz Time Flies collage set, to create a collage that covered the icon. Then I gave it a very thin coat of gesso, wiping some away with a damp cloth before applying a coat of crackle varnish.

The letters were black chipboard that I coloured with a variety of gilding waxes.

To create the heart, I cut a heart from some brown designer paper then poured on a thick coat of diamond glaze.

P1040039The finishing touch was to add touches of gilding wax all over.

I’m so pleased to have finally put my failed icon to good use, although my attempt with Dylusions inks kept coming back to haunt me whilst I was using wet glue to apply the clocks! I think I might add a little random stamping around the edges, but we’ll see!

Sadly, I can’t give this to my Dad as he is no longer alive but if you are lucky enough to spending the day with your Dad, have a lovely time.

  1. What a lovely, unusual project. I do not know where you get your amazing ideas from.

You have so many wonderful things in your craft room, it must be like Aladdin’s Cave!
