Cupid, pull back your bow

I promised you I would be back with the second of my projects that I made for the new challenge, “Warms the Heart,” over at My Artistic Adventures.

P1100061

I’ve used this fabulous collage sheet with cupids together with the conversation hearts  and the hearts paper to decorate a vintage spool/bobbin.

Cupid

First I painted the spool with a thin layer of white paint, covered the core with the hearts paper and then applied crochet lace around the top and bottom edge. I  used some gauze to cover the top of the spool, pulling at the threads so it was nice an wispy, a bit like a cloud.

The cupid is layered onto some sturdy card stock and then glittered with gold.

Then I’ve scattered more glitter and some tiny gold stars.

I’ve gone overboard with little pink paper roses and sweetheart blossoms and tucked in the conversation hearts here and there.

A little pink bow tops it all off. As well as making a great piece of Valentine décor, this would also look good as a cake topper – chocolate I think!!!

Don’t forget to link up your heart warming creations with our challenge and if you use one of Heather’s collage sheets you will be entered in the draw to win a free sheet or a coupon for 30% off.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. I should love to play in your craft room, you just happen to have vintage bobbins paper roses, gauze and little gold stars laying about so you can whip up a cute project like this.

  2. Oh Fiddlesticks, Internet Explorer stopped working so lost comment I was writing, dadgumitanyway.
Your creation is incredible Lisette, another work of art. love idea of using the spool, was it regular thread spool or a special spool? I have a few spools that came from a mill that had thread on them, couple still have thread. I use them for display now and then, put them in Ball jars or just stand on a table.
How you think of all the wonderful creations you make is incredible also. You are so talented.
I’ve been working on making some Valentine things to give Grandkids. Can’t give two oldest as their Mother sends them back. Could send grandson’s to where he works but don’t want to embarrass him. HIs sister wants nothing to do with us.
How is the snow situation there now? Hope it’s warmed up some at least. No snow here but who knows when Mother Nature will decide to play tricks with us.
Better get busy again. Take good care ok? Hope all week with you and yours.
    Happy weekend.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
