A very Happy Christmas to all my followers and visitors.
When I was little there was a Christmas ritual where, every evening, my Mum would read to me by the light of an Advent candle. The book was Enid Blyton’s Christmas Book – a tale of a family getting ready for Christmas that wove in how many of today’s traditions came about. It was outdated even when I was a child but I absolutely loved it and it still sits by my bedside during December. The book that was read to me belonged to my Mum and she bought me my own copy. However, I remember that in her version many of the lovely illustrations had been coloured with crayons. This tag uses one of the images from the book that I have colour
I hope that you enjoy today and that you create some happy memories that will be with you for years to come.
Thanks for buzzing by.
What a lovely story. My sister always read The Night Before Christmas to her children, so when my nieces had children I bought it for them, so they could read it to their children.
I love your tag and the way you have used the illustration from the book.
Have a wonderful day.
Dionne xx
PS You must be the only person blogging on Christmas Day, not even QVC work today!
Love those new traditions that people start. I never read The Christmas Book to my two as by then it had become very old fashioned. I love the Night Before Christmas. xx
Merry Christmas. I have read that book as a child and loved reading her books. You brought up a great memory. Thank you. I now have a grandchild and I will be looking to get a copy so that I can read it to her. Have a beautiful day.
Oh wow Lesline, I don’t think I have ever come across anyone else outside my family who knows the book, that’s amazing. I managed to pick up a copy for my nephew on Ebay!
Your project is wonderful and memorable..
Thank you 🙂
What a beautiful story and wonderful memory your mother has created. Your tag is gorgeous. Love the coloring..so soft and delicate. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day with your family.
Thank you Sandra. We had a lovely day, but it goes so quickly. Youngest son back at work today but I shall hang on to Christmas for as long as I can!!! Hope you had a good one.
A very Happy Christmas to you and your family, too. Thank you for sharing this lovely illustration with us on Christmas Day. I think family traditions are a very important part of this time of year.
Thank you Roberta. I love hearing what traditions people have embedded with their families. 🙂
Sincerely hope Mrs. Beez that you and yours had a specially wonderful Christmas day and am wishing you a healthy happy New Year. I’ll look forward to seeing what you make in 2014. Best wishes to you.
A fabulous day, over all too quickly. Time to start planning next year 🙂
What a beautiful way to recreate that wonderful memory! So pretty!
Thank you Margaret – the images from the book are clearly imprinted on my memory and I can still hear my Mum reading certain lines!
