Vintage stash

Challenge #3 over at Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog is Vintage or Retro Style. I decided to make a card that would make a nice any occasion card:

P1070604

I’ve used papers and an image from The Gecko Galz plus some music manuscript and book pages. All of the papers were taken from my box of leftover pieces that I keep from all my projects. To be honest this could do with a big sort out so that I know what I’ve got. Anyway, I was thrilled to find I had a big enough piece of my favourite roses paper to cover the base of the card. I added some faux stitching using a stamp Shabby Shutters distress ink.

There are three layers of book pages that I distressed and inked before topping off with a piece of music manuscript. I’m having a few palpitations about the music manuscript as my hoard is dwindling a little too quickly for my liking! I love the depth that this little assembly gives the card.

I’ve topped all the layers off with this gorgeous image from The Gecko Galz Easter Bonnet ephemera collection to which I’ve added a strip of rose trim.

P1070600

Down the side of the card is a strip of treasured net lace. I often get this out to use and then put it back as I can’t bear the thought of not having any left. However, on this occasion it was just too perfect.

The ribbon is seam binding, coloured with Shabby Shutters distress stain.

Paper roses, a little muslin and a punched butterfly complete the look.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. It sounds like this was a very distressing make, parting with all those treasured items that we hoard is so hard, but the end result was worth it. Fab card, really pretty vintage lady but I think my favourite element is the glittered butterfly …. typical of me!

    • Thank you Dionne. The funny thing is that that I didn’t glitter the butterfly, it just, somehow, ended up like that!!!! xx

  2. Vintage loveliness! Layer upon layer of fabulous details, from the music and book pages to the tiny rose buds, the lace and the perfect seam binding bow. . .exquisite! Thanks for sharing your stash with us at Craft Hoarders Anonymous!
