Tulips from Amsterdam

I’m super excited today as Mr Beez and I are heading off on a little spring break. It’s a trip I planned more than a year ago and kept as a surprise retirement gift! It’s a proper spring break too as we are off to the Netherlands to visit the gardens and bulb fields at Keukenhof. The Netherlands has a special place in both our hearts as we spent our honeymoon in Amsterdam and have made several return visits as there was a time when you could, quite cheaply, get there and back in a day from where we live.

So here’s a little card with an appropriate theme!

I’ve had this stamp, which is originally from Hero Arts, in my stash for ages. I know that when I bought it that, like a lot of my other unused purchases, I had a very specific reason for doing so. I have no idea what that reason is so the stamp has remained unused until now.

It’s called (I think!) Watercolour Tulip so I stamped it onto some watercolour card, pulling out the stamped colour with a waterbrush. The sentiment stamp was a gift that was included in an order from LC Designs and perfect for our current theme – use a sentiment – over at Crafty Boots Challenges.

When I was a child, my grandparents lived in Amsterdam for awhile and we were fortunate to be able to visit them on more than one occasion. I have very vivid memories of visiting the gardens and bulb fields back then so am very much looking forward to sharing the experience with Mr Beez.

Thanks for buzzing by and have the best day ever!

  1. Hope you had or are having a fantastic spring break. Sadly I have never been out of the US, But the tiny resort city that I live in was founded by Dutch and tulips are everywhere this time of the year. We even have a week long tulip festival and love walking up my street to see all the different varieties though this year with the insane weather we are having there aren’t many to see. Travel safe and I love your card.

    • Thank you Sandra, it was a lovely break even if the weather was unseasonably cold – snow in the bulb fields!!!!! I love the sound of where you live and can imagine the tulips are a delight each year. I was amazed at the number of varieties there were and such beautiful colours.

  2. What a fabulous card for your mini honeymoon revisited trip. Have a terrific trip, enjoy the bulb fields and your strolls down Memory Lane.

    • Thank you. I now want to re-make this card in every colour of tulip I have seen…it should only take a couple of years 🙂 x

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
