Firstly, I’m pleased to announce the winner of my blogiversary giveaway. The random number generator came up with “1” and the first person who left a comment was:
Congratulations, I’ve emailed you to get your details. Thank you to everyone who commented during this time.
You may remember be telling you that I don’t usually inflict my homemade cards on the younger generation? There is one exception, that being my cousin’s son Ed. Last year, for his 8th birthday I got busy making him a card linked to his football team.
This year, I am getting him the Narnia Chronicles so it seemed appropriate that his card should reflect this. Having already made a card based on my favourite of the series, and one of my favourite books of all time, The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe, decided to re-work the idea. Here’s the original …
… and here’s version 2!
At the time, I was very happy with the original but now I look at it and I’m not so sure! I much happier with this new version.
I found a wardrobe template to download and I simply enlarged it so that it was the same size as a regular card. I printed it on to card and then used a craft knife to open up the doors. I only used the front of the template and attached this to a piece of regular sized card so that I ended up with what is essentially a gatefold card.
On the inside I covered the door panels and the back of the card with a map of Narnia that I found on the internet.
The trees were stamped and heat embossed using white embossing powder. I coloured them with Pine Needles, Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn distress inks. The lamppost is a stamped image that I enlarged, coloured with Promarkers and then sprinkled with some glittery snow.
I found the image of the lion on the internet and coloured him with Promarkers.
I’ve created panels out of snowy printed acetate and placed these over the top.
The finishing touches were to add some sparkly punched snowflakes, the Happy Birthday sentiment and some gold coloured brads to act as wardrobe handles.
I shall be sharing this over at Papercraft Star who have this photo for inspiration.
As usual, the Design Team have come up with some super projects so be sure to buzz over and have a look.
It feels a little strange not going to the default of using a butterfly! Thanks for buzzing by.
