Taste the rainbow take 1

Today I am enjoying the luxury of a day off and am relishing the lazy start to today 🙂 You might remember me mentioning that the first part of the week was going to be tough, and I have to tell you it was tougher than expected, but the second half had lots of treats to look forward to. So the fun began yesterday when Mr Beez and I went to a cocktails and canapés event hosted by THE king of cocktails, Wayne Collins. For me, it has been a lifetime ambition to have a cocktail made by him. Last night, I got three!!! Not only did he demonstrate each cocktail he also made up the batches for the seventy guests. In addition to our welcome cocktail we had an Elite Martini, which was the cocktail he made for the BAFTAs, an apple, Sheffield honey and rum one, which was my personal favourite and a espresso with salted caramel vodka. It was a great evening and Wayne Collins was just a lovely guy with the most amazing knowledge of cocktails and their history.

Anyway, on to today’s project which I will be sharing over at City Crafter Challenge Blog for this week’s rainbow challenge.

The background was created with distress inks – Fired Brick, Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, Broken China, Shaded Lilac and Seedless Preserves. That’s quite a list! Once all the ink was applied and blended I gave it a spritz of water just to add a speckled effect.

You’ll recognise the stamp, by Tim Holtz, I’m sure.

Once the image was stamped I simply edged the strip with black ink and attached to a plain card. Another breath holding moment whilst I stamped the sentiment! I’m hoping that the brightness of the rainbow effect will distract you from the fact that once again I turned to my trusty Darkroom Door String Inspiration!

You’ve probably guessed from the title of this post that I may just have another rainbow project to share. You’d be right, so if you’d like to see what I did with the rest of the inked card please do buzz by again this time tomorrow.

In the meantime, I’ve just got time for another cup of coffee and maybe even a biscuit before I take myself off for another treat – a leisurely lunch with a friend!

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Great card, love the rainbow you made too! What a fancy dinner and cocktail event that was! I looked up Wayne Collins, that must have been a thrill to be invited to that event! I’m so happy you enjoyed it so. ~Diane

  2. Sounds like you were totally in your element sipping cocktails.

Fabulous card, I love the colours in your rainbow and how you have merged them. Great silhouette image and sentiment.
