It’s my turn to pick the theme for the new challenge at Crafty Boots this week and I decided to go with Sweet Treats. When I chose this I had intended to do a card with cupcakes and was definitely not going to go with macaroons.
Ok so I failed in that respect. But, as in life, I just can’t resist a macaroon or two! It’s no secret that my favourite macaroons come from Betty’s and I am going through a phase where the opportunities to visit Betty’s are coming thick and fast! I was there a couple of weeks ago when we took my Aunty for afternoon tea to celebrate her 70th birthday. As luck would have it I shall be back in Harrogate, home of Betty’s, at the weekend and then, oh deary me, I return on Tuesday for work.
Anyway, back to the card. This is one of the smaller stamps from the Avery Elle Bonjour set. I stamped them, using gold ink and embossing powder, onto pearl card and then used Promarkers to colour them.
I’ve used pink pearlised card and gold glitter card as the background, popping on a doily as the final layer. Well what else would you expect for afternoon tea?
The finishing touches were a white seam binding bow and some of my favourite little rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts. I had a bit of a dither about where to put the ribbon and, looking at the card again, I now wish I’d gone with my first instinct and popped it at the side.
Be sure to check out all the fabulous sweet treats that the rest of the Crafty Boots team are serving up and of course we’d love to see your creations too. The challenge is open for a fortnight so do come and join us.
Now, just how many macaroons do you think it’s reasonable for a person to eat in one go?
Thanks for buzzing by.
