Sunday Squares

If it’s Sunday then by my reckoning it must be Stampotique day. I probably look forward to the Stampotique Designer’s Challenge more than a normal person should. At this point in time I am super excited because the new release of stamps is imminent and judging by the sneaky peeks that I’ve been seeing over on the Facebook page we’re in for some real treats. For this week’s challenge, #233, the lovely and talented Corrie has asked us to use squares and this week I’ve opted to make a card:

My squared background was created using a stamp that I have had in my stash for years and years and has been used rarely. I thought this would be nice and straightforward – distress inks and stamp it twice – it has 2 x 3 squares. Er…straightforward…that would be a big fat no! Having practised on scrap paper, obviously the time to muck it up, several times, was when it came to proper card. Anyway, I got there in the end and inked the stamp using Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio on the first stamping, which formed the grass, followed by more Cracked Pistachio and Mermaid Lagoon for the sky.

The large sunflower has been stamped and then paper pieced. I’ve added a second layer of petals to give it some dimension. The adorable little fella with the heart is Stampotique’s Monsters Line Up stamp. The sentiment stamp is from my stash.

Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for buzzing by.

    • Thank you. The most frustrating error was when everything lined up perfectly but I had turned the stamp the wrong way so the ink pattern was all wrong!!!! xx

I had a forehead slapping moment when I saw your card and I thought ‘I wish I had thought of that stamp combination’. Totally awesome I love it!!

    • Oh dear me Sam, I have just done a very bad thing and it involved a credit card!!!! Thanks for your lovely comments – my only problem was that I felt mean separating the little fella from his friends!! 🙂

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
