Summer poppies

Where has the time gone? One minute we were celebrating Christmas in July and the next, we have a new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges. And for this new challenge we have a little picture inspiration for you:

CB poppy field

Isn’t this the very essence of summer? When I lived in Norfolk a field full of poppies was a common sight, not one that I come across so often up in Yorkshire. However, many of the grass verges and central reservations of the main roads have been planted with a mixture of red and pink poppies that do look very pretty.

For my first DT project I’ve made a very CAS card:

A matter of moments to whip up? Er… I don’t think so! In my world CAS always takes forever! I masked off the strip and dusted on Salty Ocean and Shabby Shutters distress inks in the gap. Once the masking tape was removed I decided not to add a defining border.

I used green Archival Ink to stamp the poppies and then coloured them in with Polychromos. The stamp is from Little Claire’s Designs.

Ironically, it was so sunny yesterday that I struggled to get a decent photo’ of my card – but I’m not grumbling, it was lovely to be able to get out in the garden 🙂

Looks like it might be another scorcher today, hope you get to enjoy a bit of summer sunshine whilst you can. Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Mrs Beez, this is stunning. I wish I could swish like this, it looks amazing. So many of my favourite boxes ticked, poppies, CAS, your swishing – just butterflies and glitter missing but they really would not work here, I think this is one of those perfect moment cards.

Come to Norfolk some time, see the poppies, and teach me how to swish, please!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
