Summer love sensations

Hooray for the weekend and it looks like it’s going to be a very warm and sunny one over in my corner of the world. To celebrate this summeriness I thought I would share two of my Gecko Galz DT makes with you.

First up is this simple card that was made using a paper from the La Isla Bonita paper pack. Who can resist little seahorses? They have such a magical quality about them. I’ve made a topper by picking out two of the seahorses and coating the paper with Mod Podge glitter.

Then I’ve layered it up with a bit of silver glitter card and some more paper, added some seam binding and topped it off with punched, glittery red heart.

Confession time. I’d forgotten that I had intended to give this to my brother and his wife for their anniversary until after I created the card that I shared earlier this week. What a forgetful numpty I am!

My second card again uses a La Isla Bonita paper but this time I’ve teamed it with an image from the She Sells Seashells collage sheet (you’ve no idea how difficult it is to type that!). Originally I was going to layer the image with other but decided it was such a shame to cover any part of it.

I added some muslin, twine and a scattering of pearls.

Don’t forget that there is a buy one get one free offer over at the Gecko Galz and, if you haven’t already, don’t forget to pick up this month’s freebies.

By the way, if the title of this post rings any bells I’d love you to let me know – if you recognise where it comes from, without resorting to Google, then we probably have more in common than just a love of craft.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. You’re so right with the seahorses, there’s something magical in them, it can be their shape or maybe the fact that they are called horses and they live under water, pretty much like mermaids 🙂 loved the shell one as well, especially the idea of the little pearls on it 🙂

    • I think it’s all of those things plus they also look as if they are smiling (like they know a secret!) and also they “bob” rather than swim.

  2. Beautiful cards! And you are definitely going to get good weather because when it rains this side of the Pennines it’s sunny your side … It’s pouring down here right now!

    • Aww – sorry it’s rainy over the other side. Hard to imagine a downpour happening just a couple of hours away!!

  3. Both cards are so wonderful Lisette. Really perfect for my l/r. Think will have to get some of that paper or is that only in England? I’ll go to their website. You have such an incredible knack for knowing what embellishments will make your cards shine and dazzle. Heck with l/r I want to have those adorable cards in bedroom so I can wake up to them.
When I try to send a reply back to your much appreciated answers to my comments, for some reason my p/c just won’t send them, gives me dns error, very frustrating. So if you wonder why I don’t reply back that’s why. Wish I knew what to do but have noticed I have problem with pc giving that message when I’m in google chrome. Tells me dns error? Whatever that means. When I was getting my gmail thru Internet explorer didn’t have that problem. Blasted machine is enuf to make a person take to throwing it out window.
Happy creating this weekend. You are so busy all the time. Guess I’ll go to that paper website and the Gecko Galz, now I’ll be busy bee also. Also want to look at Moon Kiss more.

    • The paper is a digital one from so you get both of the papers I used and more!!!! Plus it’s a buy one get one free so you can choose a second one. I am not on any sort of commission by the way!!!! 🙂 Frustrating when your computer won’t do as it’s told – I think dns is something to do with not being connected to the internet at that point but also if the connection is slow. Would love to send you a card if you wanted to email me your snail mail 🙂

  4. Oh Ambassador, you spoil us, two seaside themed cards for the price of one!

The little seahorses are so sweet and the glittery finish is awesome, I am sure your brother and his wife would have loved the romantic couple if you had sent it to them …. there is always next year.

If I had to choose, I think my favourite of the two cards is the seashell card, the playing card effect is fabulous and I love the carefully placed muslin net and pearls.

    Dionne xx

    • Thank you 🙂 I shall probably regret using up two projects in one post – I can’t see me getting much time to craft after next week 🙁 xx

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
