Summer holidays

This week sees the start of an extremely punishing and work schedule which will last throughout the summer. I will be working some very long days and staying away from home for a lot of the time. The last few weeks have all been in preparation for this moment. Consequently, I will have a lot less time than normal for craftiness and I will be making fewer blog posts than usual. Without wanting to wish my life away, I can’t wait until September when the madness will, hopefully, be over and I can look forward to a late summer holiday! In anticipation, here is a little project that is one of my DT pieces for the new Crafty Boots challenge “summer holidays.”

P1080730This card uses an image from the Gecko Galz Splish Splash ephemera collection. It reminds me of one of my Godmothers who used to swim in the sea at Brighton every day come rain or shine and did so well into her seventies!

I’ve layered the image on to red and black card and then set it at an angle on some spotty paper. I’ve added lace and pom pom trim across the bottom and then made a little rosette from some spotty fabric, topping it off with a button and some baker’s twine.

Be sure to buzz over and see what the rest of the Crafty Boots Design Team have been up to. Dionne has made the most gorgeous little beach hut scene. I will be back here on Wednesday with a beach hut project of my own – you can take a sneaky peek over on the Craft Boots Challenge Blog. Hope you will have time to link up your projects too.

Thanks  for buzzing by.

  1. Stunning card, I love all of the red, especially the big polka dot paper and that is such a happy image, look at the smile on that girls face and the laughter in her eyes.

I really hope that the next few weeks are not as bad as you are dreading and the people you are working with look after you.

PS Thank you so much for the shout out, you are so good to me.

    • You deserve it! Can’t wait until Friday right now. It’s been a long day and that’s before all the cooking!!!!

  2. Oh I just love this, the image and the great polka dot paper are fabulous together. Take it easy and pace yourself this week. ~Diane
