Good morning. If it’s Sunday then it must be time for me to share my make for this week’s Stampotique Designers Challenge. This week the amazing and super, super-talented Sam Read is asking us to create a project that uses absolutely NO black whatsoever! Now that is a challenge for I, like Sam, generally reach for a black ink pad when I am stamping. In actual fact I nearly did just that when I started this project, but checked myself just in time. I opted to create a card using Daniel Torrente’s Starfish Cube.
For my background, I used Distress Paints in Cracked Pistachio, Lucky Clover, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers. I layered on the paints fairly randomly and added further layers and texture by using a bubbles stencil – either to apply a single colour, or to remove some of the paint with a baby wipe. Further texture was created using Karen Hayselden’s Oodles of Doodles stamp and Hydrangea, Forget-me-not and Leaf Green Archival Inks.
I used Dandelion and Orange Blossom Archival Inks to stamp the starfish and the coloured them with distress inks before cutting out and applying to the background. The bubbles were created with a white Sharpie and white Stabilo pencil.
Here in the UK we seem to have been blessed with warm, sunny weather for our long Bank Holiday weekend so I hope to get out and about today and soak up some rays.
Thanks for buzzing by.
