Snow birds

The first of this year’s challenges over at City Crafter Challenge Blog has the theme Snowbirds. Here’s what I came up with:

The cute little image of the birds in the snow and their dear little house is from The Gecko Galz and comes from the Winters Garden collection, which has lots of lovely snow images.

I’ve used a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder on white card and then layered this up with red. I’ve used the same red card to make a little mat for the image.

The red spotty ribbon echoes the snowy feel. I’ve created a little arrangement of red sweetheart blossoms and white berries in the corner. I was originally going to add a frosting of glitter, but decided I liked it just the way it was.

The finishing touch was to add the sentiment which was printed from my computer.

The CCCB Design Team have prepared some beautiful samples for this theme so be sure to buzz over and take a look . But be sure to wrap up warm – I believe there is a cold snap coming!

  1. So cheerful on a dreary January morning! The flowers are a lovely touch, to remind us that spring is around the corner. Here in the States, we would call that ribbon pattern “polka dots.” Not sure why! Never thought about it, really. Thanks for brightening my day.

    • Thank you Nancy and you have brightened mine too 🙂 I’m never sure exactly what size polka dots are or why they are called polka dots. I’ve also seen Swiss dots used too! I feel a google search coming on!

    • Thank you Dionne. I punched out the image but then wasn’t sure what to do with it after that!!! It came together eventually.xx

  2. My Mom would love this, she is such a bird person. Especially cardinals. great job, you have so much patience to be able to make such beautiful things

    • Thank you – we don’t have cardinals in the UK and I would love to see one. I guess our equivalent is the robin and we are lucky enough to get those in our garden, even nesting one year!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
