Roses – they grow on you!

Heads up! For those of you that enjoyed the Gecko Galz Blog Hop, and picked up the free collage sheets, the new products for November have now been released and that also includes some fab freebies. There is a beautiful Christmas image, a Father Christmas digi and a gloriously green designer paper for you this month. It’s been my turn to use these to design some samples and there’s a sneaky peek of one of them below. Make sure you buzz on over and pick them up for your collection.

Today I’m spending time with my nephews and then off to Upton Park for the footabll, still with a sense of dread! I’m hoping that having been Halloween yesterday, it won’t be a case of nightmare on Green Street this afternoon. I get a bit giddy when I go to football matches and sometimes have to sit on the naughty step! Last year I got to have a cuddle with one of my heroes, former goalkeeper Phil Parkes, and spent a L-O-N-G time on the step! Once, we bumped into Chris Akabusi on the way out and it was hard to know which of us was the giddiest kipper.

Anyway, on to today’s post proper. I have two pieces to share today – the same but slightly different.

I’m indebted to Crafty Eileen’s Crafty Zone for introducing me to this fabulous rose stamp by Stampendous and also for inspiring me with this technique.

On one I’ve added a touch of script stamp and once the inks were applied I added some white pen.

The other has just been inked.

For both of these I used virtually every distress ink I possess and applied using my Inkdusters. I gave the ink a spritz of water to give a slightly mottled look.

I will eventually turn these into cards but I discovered, too late, that this stamp is much bigger than I expected and am very low on basic cardstock.

I’m going to sneakily link this up over at Sunday Stampers as a very late entry for the roses theme.

All this talk of Roses has got me thinking of chocolate. I am probably one of the few people who is very pleased to see that Cadbury’s have reintroduced the coffee one!  What’s your favourite?

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Hi

I hope your trip to Upton Park was a great one, it is chilly down here at the moment but it is dry.

I popped over to Gecko Galz and had a look at all of the wonderful samples you made using the freebies, they are all gorgeous but I particularly love the Santa you coloured, brilliant!

Your toppers today are fab, I am really loving your script stamp and the gorgeous backgrounds you create with it, can’t wait to see the cards you make with them.

    Dionne xx

    • Thanks Sandra – it was a good game. Could have been a better result but I was expecting a whole lot worse!!! I will eat your chocolate for you! x

  2. I”m not much of a roses fan but love yours. Both the ink and ink with white pen are great, love seeing the difference. You are so talented. What are ink dusters? Are they a brush or? Just curious. Hope you had lots of fun at the football match.

    • Thank you. You’re right, Inkdusters are a brush a bit like a double ended shaving brush but a longer handle. I suspect you could use a shaving brush and my friend uses a stencilling brush in the same way. You get less “rogue” marks with a brush but I do find my arm starts to hurt after awhile! I am just a wimp!!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
