New challenge at My Artistic Adventures and house #8

Today kicks off the new challenge, the first of 2015, over at My Artistic Adventures. This is, if you like, the first “official” challenge since the new Design Team came together. The challenges take place on 2nd and 16th of each month and I hope you’ll have time to play along. Heather is a generous hostess and there are always lots of prizes and goodies up for grabs.

My Artistic Adventures Challenge Blog
The first challenge of 2015 has an Anything Goes theme, be sure to buzz over and check out the loveliness that the rest of the DT has created. For me, this was a hard one to start with as first, it meant make a choice about which of Heather’s lovely collage sheets to use, and secondly, what to make with it. There always so many possibilities. Here’ s what I went for:
A thank you card seemed appropriate for this time of year.  For this I have used the Pink Victorian Thank You set and teamed it with some designer paper from my stash. Both the image and the paper have been edged with gold glitter.
I’ve added some lace and ribbon along the bottom and a strip of crinkled seam binding across the centre. In one corner is an arrangement of paper roses, ribbon, ribbon leaves and a teeny-tiny bow.
I’ve echoed that arrangement on the opposite corner.
Despite all the embellishments this really was very easy to put together and the image is so pretty it works equally well as part of a clean and simple design. I made a smaller card and planned not to add any embellishments:
Alright then, just a teeny bit of lace and a paper rose!
And so for today’s house, we’ve reached number eight:
Although the snow has gone, I haven’t quite got it out of my system yet!
Here’s how the street is shaping up:
Thanks for buzzing by.

New challenge at My Artistic Adventures and house #8 — 10 Comments

  1. Now, you really are spoiling us today, three projects!

The thank you cards look fab, you have such a steady hand with that gold. The fancy one reminds me of a high end vintage chocolate box and I am very keen on CAS cards these days.

Today’s house is a real treat with it’s snow flurry.

    Dionne xx

    • Thank you. I’m loving CAS too, but it always feels a bit cheaty when it is for a challenge or DT piece although I think sometimes they are harder to do than a whistles and bells card don’t you? xx

  2. Wonderful challenge entries; I especially like the second one because I like the way the green and cream sets off the image. Your houses are waaaay cool!! Thanks for the group photo–is your village going to have a name? Beezville, Beezdale, Beez-on-Skep, Little Beez?

    • Thank you. Now a name, there’s a thought. I love your suggestions and I will throw another one into the mix which was/is actually the name of a road near where I used to live – Honeypot Lane! You choose! 🙂

      • Goodness, Honeypot Lane?! How appropriate that you used to live near it 🙂 I’m choking under the pressure of naming such an awesome little village. I like Little Beez-on-Skep, thereby creating the possibility of a later Greater Beez-on-Skep, complete with a Betty’s. However, since it is your creation, I think you should have final say, so please tweak or totally change to suit your fancy.

        • Little Beez-on-skep or, in the UK, Little Beez-on-hive it is. I used to live in a place called Little Walsingham which, strangely, was bigger than Great Walsingham – never sure how that worked out! There will be a Betty’s I can assure you – I have worked out how to make mini macaroons now!

  3. Lisette, trying to play catch up as I was blacked out with an extreme migraine attack in the last 2 days, hope didn’t miss too much… your cards are gorgeous, I love the arrangements of the roses and your laces/ribbons are fabulous. Your street is becoming amazing, love number 8, those tiny snowflakes are really cute!

    • So sorry you have started the New Year feeling under par, not a good thing to have either. Hope you are fully recovered? 🙂

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
