New and Old

Our first challenge of 2016 begins today over at Crafty Boots and the theme is “Something old, something new” – an opportunity for you to show off your new craft supplies and to perhaps return to some old favourites. I have quite a few supplies that I consider to be new/old! These are things that have never been used but have been in my stash for quite some time. So for my DT piece today I thought I would combine some new/old supplies with some old/old ones – are you with me?

I bought Stampotique’s NYNY and 1879 Postmark several months ago but haven’t had the opportunity to use them. This evokes some very, very happy memories of my recent trip to New York!

After stamping on to card I applied distress inks – Fossilised Amber, Picked Raspberry (one of my very first distress inks!) and Wilted Violet. Then I added the stars using a stamp that I have had in my stash forever. The sentiment is from a set by Darkroom Door, I have used some of the stamps from this set before, but not this particular one.

Do buzz over to Crafty Boots and see what the rest of the DT have been up to and remember you have a whole fortnight to link up your projects.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Wow, look at these incredible colours, they are so fabulous and the sky-line stamps looks amazing.

I also accumulate quite a few bits that I never get around to using and thought they would be perfect for this challenge!

  2. Well looks like you had grand time using some of your new/old stuff to create with, so gorgeous with those colors madam. Love how you combine the colors so can’t tell where one leaves off and other starts. You are master at mixing your inks, (among other things). The stamps couldn’t be more appropriate now since your trip could they?
Was it romantic being in US with your hubby? A stunning creation to well met challenge as always dear lady. So hope you two enjoyed your short journey in our country. Happy days

    • Thank you for your lovely comments. New York was just fabulous, we loved every minute and have so many happy memories to look back on. It’s made me hungry to return to the USA asap!
