May ’16 with the Galz

Good Morning. I’m normally amazed at just how quickly my monthly spotlight over at the Gecko Galz comes around. This month however it seems to have been a long time coming! It feels as if some of these projects were created years ago. As usual, I have added links to the original posts so that you can find out all the details of how these were created.  At the end of the post there’s a free digi stamp  for you to grab for your collection.

The papers that the Gecko Galz produce are so pretty that sometimes it’s nice to let them be the star of the show. Here are a couple of projects that does just that.

Elephant card

There are details of how this was made, including a link to the template, over at the original post. The papers are all from the Blue Willow paper pack.

The papers also go well with more contemporary images. The Spring Awakening pack is one of my all time favourites and was perfect to go with my favourite brand of stamps!

Pastel Butterfly Card

Vintage Girls ATCs

Alice Card

It was creating the background for this card that inspired the Stampotique version with the unicorn. For my Alice card, I cut slightly wonky strips of paper from the Spring Awakening pack then adhered them to a piece of card. Cutting the strips takes a matter of moments if using a paper cutter. I then cut the top of the card to make it wonky, I felt it fitted with Alices’s Wonderland journey.

The Alice image is from the Ask Alice collage set. If you are a fan of Alice’s adventures, there is also a Wonderland paper pack.

Free Digi

Regulars here will recognise the background that I have made to showcase my free digital stamp. If you’d like to learn how it was created check out my blogpost here.

I printed the image onto some brown paper which was actually included as padding for a package I received. There wasn’t just one sheet either but a whole thick pad!

I shabbied up some seam binding with Vintage Photo distress ink. I swoosh the pad over the ribbon, spritz with water and then crumple up in kitchen towel to remove excess ink. The little flower is from my stash.

Thanks for buzzing by.
