So five weeks down and one to go in my summer work marathon. Last week was probably the toughest being almost the last, but not quite. Next week excitement and giddiness will see me through! No injuries this week but, do you know, I got stung by a wasp again on my return home?!
I think the title of my post probably says it all about this week’s post. This is something that I have had in mind for quite some time so I was thrilled that the current Stampotique Designers’ Challenge gave me the perfect excuse to get on and do it. The super talented Sam Read is asking us to use some sort of repetition in our designs. I’ve used my favourite muse, the gorgeous Agatha, for Stampotique, in this tribute to Andy Warhol’s famous colour screen print series.
I opted to use Agatha Crown, by Magda Polakow for Stampotique, and just masked off the crown. The squares are twiniche sized, 2″ x 2″, and I began by colouring them with distress inks. Next, I stamped Agatha, using a variety of inks, on to each square. I made a second stamping, using the same colour, onto white card. As I had used some Archival and some Distress Inks, I made sure the latter was thoroughly dry before smooching on distress inks. I then paper pieced my multi-coloured Agathas over the original stamping.
I’ve mounted all the squares onto some chunky black card. This is one of those projects that is for no particular purpose but gave me a lot of fun in the making. Thanks Sam for a great challenge.
This piece also works perfectly for our current “Fair and Square” challenge over at Crafty Boots.
Thanks for buzzing by.
