Flower Fairy

Craft packages ordered =0, craft packages received =0 🙁  (But my new Stampin’ Up! parcel is due to be delivered tomorrow – whoop whoop!)

So yesterday I had a day off and spent the day trying to get my house a little bit cleaner that it has been whilst I’ve been so snowed under with work. Housework is not my idea of fun in any way, shape or form, but it did feel quite theraputic to be doing something other than my day job. I did have to be very strict with myself and not get distracted by crafting, which is what I would have rather been doing. I must have been using body parts that my day job doesn’t usually reach as I’ve got aches and pains all over the place!

Today’s project is a birthday card for a friend and I feel well ahead of the game as her birthday isn’t until mid-April. If you are a regular visitor to my blog you will see that I have revisiting a design that I have used before and was quite taken with:

The main image is from a Papercraft CD that I don’t use nearly enough as it has some beautiful designs on it. I also have the coordinating stamp set which you may have seen on other pieces I have done. You can print the images out in a variety of formats, many of which match with Spellbinders’ dies. This particular one is a circle which I cut freehand and mounted onto some purple backing paper and then some silver glitter card.

I used Tonic Petal Pairs punches to creat three different types of bloom in white, purple and lilac and then arranged these around the edge. I used purple, clear and yellow gems in the centre of each flower. I thought the yellow would make a nice contrast and add to the spring feel.

Across the bottom, I put a strips of purple polka dot organza ribbon and  some purple eylash trim. I love the fairy like quality of the trim, even though it does have a mind of it’s own! I was, for me, quite restrained with the glitter, just adding a smidge to the wings and her crown.

Am I allowed to stay I am totally in love with this card? I shall certainly recreate it as it was so easy to do. I am linking this up with the current challenges over at Crafty Boots (flowers) and at Really Reasonable Ribbon (flowers and ribbon).

I’m sharing a new project over at my Stampin’ Up! blog, Mrs Beez Stampin’ if you have time to take a look and you might also like:
