So I have completed week one of my working away from home schedule and now have the weekend at home. Being the 25th of the month it is of course Christmas in July, a day I normally celebrate with great gusto. This year it will be a little more feeble but, the tree is up and there are mince pies in the house. As every bone in my body aches after a week of being on my feet for 9 hours a day, I’m not sure I have the strength to pull a cracker but I can definitely manage lying on the settee to watch a Christmas film and will have a super long straw to my Christmas cocktail so I don’t have to lift the glass!!!
Before I disappeared at the beginning of the week, I did rustle up a little card to share over at City Crafter Challenge Blog for their “Hemp and twine” challenge.
Originally I intended to just use twine for hanging the little birdhouse from. But then had the idea of also using some twine for the centre of the sun – yep, short on time so let’s do something a little more complicated Mrs Beez! I stamped a second sun onto some cardstock, cut out the centre, added glue and then coiled some plain twine from the centre outwards. Once it was dry I added colour with Promarkers then stuck it over the original stamped image.
All the stamps, except the sentiment, which is by Stampin’ Up!, are from the PaperArtsy Squiggly Ink Flora and Fauna Set 3. You have seen me use the leaves many times before and, coincidently, they have all been on CCCB entries! For this card I have added in the sun (well I’m using it as a sun, it could be a flower!) the owl and one of the birdhouses. The owl was coloured with Promarkers, whilst I used Polychromos for the birdhouse. Both have been paper pieced over the original stamping and I used glue gel to add dimension.
For the background I used an Inkduster to swoosh on Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean.
Now, my next task is to choose my Christmas film – It’s A Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Miracle on 39th Street….?????
Have a great weekend, thanks for buzzing by and er….Happy Christmas!
