Filter paper flowers

Today I am off  to London, this is my third journey down there in as many weeks and this time I have to carry the suitcase – but don’t for one moment think that that encourages me to travel light!  I’m off to visit a very old friend (as in we have been friends a very long time) that I used to work with at the BBC. I shall be staying with her and we are meeting up with another friend who also worked with us. Although we don’t meet up as often as we would all like, we do have one of those friendships where we just pick up from where we left off.

Before I depart, I’ve just time to share another floral themed project with you.

P1040393I shall be sharing this over at Papercraft Star where the challenge is to use handmade flowers. My flowers are made from unbleached coffee filter papers. I cut out the individual layers using my Spellbinder’s dies and then scrunched them together. I’m sorry I can’t be any more helpful in my description but that is precisely what I did before giving them pearl centres.

I layered up some spotty paper squares  (this always reminds me of chocolate buttons, but that is probably just me!) on top of kraft paper to create the background. I cut a swirly frond from more filter paper and then arranged everything on to the card.

The finishing touch was to add the sentiment which I stamped and heat embossed using white embossing powder.

P1040398The filter paper is very easy to use and shape into flowers so I shall try this again but maybe with some white filter papers dyed with distress inks or Dylusions.

Now I shall be scheduling my posts for the next couple of days, so fingers crossed that it all goes as planned!

  1. More ingenious paper flowers – and another brilliant result. I am going to have to raid my kitchen cupboard and try this. Love the card and the fab coffee polka dots.

    Have a wonderful trip.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
