Feather Light

Happy Monday! Except I’m not entirely sure about the happy bit. Do you remember a few weeks ago a postponed my dental appointment? Well all too quickly my rearranged appointment has arrived 🙁 I’ve decided making an appointment on a Monday is a silly idea, I need time to acclimatise to the week and then psych myself up for the inevitable! Let’s hope I get away with nothing more than a clean and polish, although quite frankly I hate that almost more than fillings!

Another clean and simple card to share with you today as a new fortnightly challenge is launched over at Crafty Boots Challenges. The theme is feathers and was chosen by the talented Sara.

Should you ever see a bumper bag of brightly coloured feathers going cheap and think to yourself that you can bleach them and then colour them how you wish, I have to tell you that you can’t. Fortunately, I found a little stash of natural brown and cream feathers, that have got to be at least 14 years old, so was able to turn to them instead. As it happened, and as you can see, I ended up only using one!

I used card (Very Vanilla) and stamps from Stampin’ Up! and some Vintage Photo distress ink.

There’s a tiny strip of music manuscript and a tiny strip of book page plus the feather and neutral tone paper roses.

Be sure to buzz over to the Crafty Boots website and see what the rest of the Design Team have been up to and I hope you’ll join in and share your feathery projects with us.

Now, the only other thing I have to ask you is – what an earth am I going to do with a bumper bag of brightly coloured feathers??

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Hope all goes well at the dentist. My grandson jumped off my knee and cracked his head on my front teeth.Hence one broken crown. The same thing happened years ago with my daughter so must have spent a fortune on it, though I got it free in the first place as I was pregnant.Cost this time was £214. Gulp!

    • Thank you Shirley. Ouch – for both you and your grandson and especially bad luck for it happen to you twice. Teeth are a mega expensive thing aren’t they but don’t want to be without them!!! 🙂

  2. Snap. I also have a bag of brightly coloured fluffy feathers and I have been thinking exactly the same!

Love what you have done with your pretty brown feather, your sepia coloured card looks fab.

Good luck at the dentist today, I know what you mean about the cleaning, I hate it too.

    Dionne xx

    • Do let me know if you manage to change their colour. I survived the dentist, even the clean and polish wasn’t too bad this time 🙂 xx

  3. Love your card, the colors are beautiful. Good luck at the dentist. I keep putting my visit off as I’m will have to have them all removed. Grrr!

  4. Great card, love the splats and I never thought of changing the color of the feathers! I have some brightly colored ones I bought assembled on a feather duster for $1.00, but I also found some larger white feathers at a tag sale, I never thought to color them, hmmmm, thanks for the idea! ~Diane

    • A feather duster is a great idea for a cheap source of feathers. Was so disappointed the coloured ones won’t bleach but I’m sure I’ll find a use for them.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
