Enchanted dragonflies

Today I have a BIG smile on my face as yesterday, eldest son landed on the doorstep after two weeks in China. He’s clearly had an amazing time but I’m very pleased to have him back safe and sound, even if he did bring a suitcase of dirty washing back! Not even youngest beez tiptoeing up the stairs during the early hours can dampen my mood. Did I say tiptoeing? Sorry, that should have said crashing up the stairs like a herd of elephants at 4.30am 🙂

Today I am sharing one of my Gecko Galz design team projects for this month. P1050187

This combines one of the beautiful images from the Book Covers ephemera set with one from Darling Dragonflies. The two just seemed made to go together. I used a gold leaf pen to add a border around the edge before picking out parts of the design that, in reality, would have been gold and highlighting them with gold glitter.

I layered the dragon fly image on to gold glitter card and then mounted on the card using 3D foam. This allowed me to run a strip of coordinating seam binding underneath. I dyed the seam binding using Scattered Straw and Wild Honey distress inks then scrunched it up to get a vintage, crinkled appearance.

The finishing touches were two coordinating roses and a seam binding bow.

Apparently, there were dragon flies galore in China, including huge red ones. Mr Beez and I are being treated to the photos tonight, can’t wait to see them. 😉

  1. Exquisite as always. I love dragon flies more than butterflies so this one is a favorite. So pretty with embellishments and colors. You are a genius.
Happy for you to have your son back, we want to let them go but we still worry don’t we?
Our 16 yr, old granddaughter wants to go to college in Hawaii under a special program. She wants to be a special needs teacher. You can imagine how proud we are of her. She’s very bright and a wonderful young woman. Her parents have done a splendid job raising her. I hate to think of not seeing her when she’s away but there’s email so it’s not a total absence. I will be getting Skype for my pc so we can talk.
Her parents aren’t too happy about it but she wants to go and will. American parents aren’t as open to their children doing what they want with their lives and educating themselves by seeing more of the world. You know, broadening their horizons? I will miss her like crazy as her and I have always had a special bond, more than any of our other 5 g/kids. She is so bright and wonderful it would be a shame for her not to be able to experience all she can. We live in Western Colorado Happy days.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
