Down in the hollow … skipping and a jumping

The new challenge at Sunday Stampers requires you to use brown somewhere in your project. Hels usually links her theme to a song and this week it’s Brown Eyed Girl, which is funny as I was singing it for quite a lot of last week. Those in the know will tell you it’s a really hard song to sing. Well aside from not knowing all the words properly (but just enough for the title of this post), I have no problem with it at all! I murder it just like all the rest of the songs I sing 🙂

I decided to re-work my green card from last week and come up with a brown version. For the background I used brown, green and red Dylusions sprays then stamped the toadstools and flowers (both stamps by Dylusions) in Gathered Twigs distress ink. I then used a brush to add more colour to the stamped images. The spots have been coloured with a white gel pen.

I stamped a little fairy in black Archival ink, added a touch of colour to her skirt and wings and then added sparkle with some crystal clear glitter.

I’ve mounted the image on cream card and then on to some more of the same Dylusion coloured paper that I prepared for the background. I added a strip of brown ribbon across the bottom. To finish I made a little arrangement of cream flowers, a brown bow and some punched brown fronds all topped off with a pearl. I added a touch of Vintage Photo distress ink to the flowers.

So brown is officially the new green. Well at least for this week. Sha la la la la la la la la la la la la te dah!

  1. Fabulous. The effects you have created are amazing and I love them – I just wish I could do them, especially the toadstools. The little flowers are a brilliant touch as they make it all pop!
