Blue beauty

I don’t seem to be blogging all that frequently at the moment. I’m itching to get my teeth into projects but my mass clear out seems to be taking up all my time. During my weekend tidy up sessions I tackled some of my neglected stash. It made me realise how my crafting style as evolved since I first began. I found cards I had made years and years ago. At the time I would have been very pleased with them, now it was a case of “what were you thinking?” I re-discovered masses of peel-offs, I used to use them all the time, and several sheets of self-adhesive ribbon, printed die-cut sentiments, as well as oodles of papers that were printed from CDs. Now comes the dilemma of what to with crafting stash that is perfectly fine but not likely to be used by this crafter again. Any ideas warmly welcomed 🙂

Talking of changing style, today’s card is probably indicative of that. Whereas once all my projects had self-adhesive gems, today they are likely to have ribbon, bows and lace. This happens to be rather handy as our new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges has the theme of “ribbon and/or lace.”

This is one of my DT projects for the Gecko Galz. The image is from the Colourful Cuties collage set and the papers are  from the Toile Jolie pack.

My bling has resurfaced to add detail to the image and also in a decorative strip underneath.

I’ve used some pretty organza ribbon and net lace then added a cluster of dusky pink paper roses.

The other DT members are sharing some beautiful projects over on the Crafty Boots Challenge Blog, be sure to buzz over and take a look and don’t forget to share your work with us too.

Have a good week and thanks for buzzing by.

  1. She is a stunner, fabulous image and very pretty design. The backing paper matches the image perfectly and I love the way you have arranged the roses.

    Dionne xx

PS Your old stash sounds very like my old stuff, perhaps it is a sample of what was popular at the time.

    • Thank you Dionne. I don’t know what to do with them all – I see Brushos have returned to popularity and I used to have a full set! Perhaps the same thing will happen with peel offs???!xx

      • You can tell I am no artist and came to this via cross stitch and knitting, I had never heard of Brushos and just had to look them up on YouTube!

        Have a great weekend.

  2. I haven’t blogged in years but do try to create something at least once a week. Its a amazing to take out projects from the past and compare them to what your working on now. I am constantly rearranging my studio and will take something out and look at it and as myself, “what were your thinking or what did you buy that for.”

Your project is lovely and the color is gorgeous.

As far as what to do with all the stash…if you have a home of senior citizens they would most likely love to get have your wonderful donation. Not sure about where you live but we have a place that seniors can go to everyday to socialize, exercise, have a meal, and create and love getting donations for their craft days.

    • Thank you for your lovely comments Sande and I love your idea of a donation – I shall do some investigating!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
