Birthday Suprises

Sunday is a day full of birthday’s so I’m glad that I got ahead with my card making and was just left with one to make for my friend Joanna who, although she still looks 36, her age when I first met her, will be turning 50:

I am indebted to my friend and fellow Gecko Galz DT member Diane, card maker extraordinaire, for drawing my attention to this fab image from the Gecko Galz Birthday Bash collage set with a card she made. Diane had also changed the original wording, which is “invitation”, and I borrowed this idea from her (thanks Diane :)).

I’ve picked out the lut from the cake and layered the image on to some blue card then done the same with the background paper which is from the Gecko Galz Butterfy Meadow paper pack and coordinates perfectly with the image. I’ve popped a doily in between.

The chipboard numbers are from my stash and are printed in various designs, so I painted them white and then applied a good coat of silver glitter. And if you are wondering if I got glitter everywhere – well of course I did!

That delicious Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and has a beautiful sparkle.

Now coincidentally today saw the arrival of some happy mail from Diane. Take a look:

Diane’s cards are always matched with a coordinating envelop, which I think is a fabulous touch, so I was thrilled to have my very own that matched the card:

Accompanying this fabulous card was a package stuffed, and when I say stuffed I mean mega stuffed, with die cuts that she has kindly cut out on her whizzy machine:

Diane has been super generous as there are TONS!!! I was going to take them out of the packages but knew I would never get them back in again. However, I can’t wait to tip them all out and play with them. When I say play, I of course mean look, stroke and sort. It will take several months of playing before I can even think about using them! Thank you so much Diane 🙂

Sadly, due to work commitments, I won’t be able to join in the celebrations that are taking place next week, especially as I know great fun will be had by all. Hopefully, I will get the chance another time to raise a glass in Joanne’s honour.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Oww what a fabulous gift, you are going to have so much fun with that bag of goodies.

And your friend is just going to adore her card, look at that image, all of those candles have almost set her eyebrows on fire, lol! I love the glitter and the polka dots, you know me, and the doily was a great touch.

    Have a fabulous weekend.

  2. Happy Birthday, I am so glad you like them, and what a great day for them to arrive! Love your card, that paper is gorgeous and I love what you did with that image too! Your friend will love this, especially the glittery numbers! Have fun. ~Diane

  3. So happy to see you are being spoiled, what a load of goodies, you’ll have so much fun with all that won’t you? For crafters and card makers getting all those shapes is like getting a bunch of money, I’d rather have the goodies, you too?
What an incredible 50th. b/d card, the image of lady is so fun, and those candles. You are such a talented lady. You make such exceptional cards for other people, glad it’s appreciated by your friend Diane. By whizzy machine did you mean like a Cameo or Cricut? There are so many of those great machines (also quite expensive) wouldn’t you love to have one? Do you get your papers, embellishments from a store or thru the mail? Think I’d most love to have one is when I’m making signs. Have wonderful weekend dear lady.

    • Thank you. I would always rather have the goodies!! 🙂 In part that’s because I am terrible at choosing so much better if someone picks out something for me. I usually buy online, but I prefer to buy papers from a shop – but my local selection isn’t that great. The whizzy machine isn’t Cameo or Cricut, and not one that I’ve seen over here, I think it’s something like a Zing. I’m ashamed to say that I have a Cricuit still in its box, just waiting for enough time to play with it properly !!!! Happy weekend 🙂

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
