Be Afraid

Just a quick, and very late, post today as I am once again playing catch up after my mid-week work excursion to London. I decided it was time for some Halloween fun and so created this postcard:

I’m sharing this over at Sunday Stampers where the theme is to add leaves. I began by stamping the border, words (Chocolate Baroque) and the moon(Stampotique) using Stazon and then added Pine Needles and Spiced Marmalade distress inks. Once the ink was applied I gave it a spritz of water, left it for a few moments before dabbing with kitchen roll. The I used a water rush to remove some of the ink from the moon.

I dried the ink with a heat gun and then stamped on some splatters using a Stampin’ Up! stamp and Rusty Hinge ink. I borrowed this idea from Ruth who has used it to great effect on her projects, especially this cute tag. Next I stamped the pumpkins (stampotique) in green, followed by the vine leaves (Lavinia) using Forest Moss distress ink.

To finish, I stamped the pumpkins using Orange Blossom Archival ink and then coloured them with distress inks – Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge.

If you can, buzz over to Hel’s blog and leave her some love as she’s not feeling too well right now.

I am also linking this up with City Crafter Challenge Blog where the theme is also leaves. The DT are saying farewell to their designer Anna who creates the most beautiful projects.  Hope you’re having a great weekend and thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Your take on our theme is spot on and I love the way this card turned out. It’s always fun to read how you made this card. Fab use of stamps, inks and spritzing. Thanks so much for joining us at CCCB!

  2. Wow Lisette, thank you, I didn’t know that I am so inspirational. Your project is so cute, I love it, those pumpkins are one of my favourites! And that text, that’s a topper, I still didn’t see it, from who is it? There’s always something new to see… 🙂

  3. That Halloween card is so blasted cute, love all the little awesome details on it You just keep on making the best cards and other pretties. Love them all.
Hi there, haven’t been able to get online, think it’s time for new pc, have put too much money into this one. Hubs needs new one anyway as my other old one I gave him has XP on it. Personally I really liked XP better than any other version since I started using these blasted machines. This pc has 7 on it but I’m cautious about buying 8.1 as sure enuf they’ll upgrade to 8.2 or something and I’ll be obsolete again. Duh, am really digitally challenged. What I just said must sound pretty dingy to somebody that’s well versed in pc’s. Sorry if I sound pretty dumb, just an old lady. lol
Hopethings are going well for you and you’ve gotten back on your feet well now. Happy Fall

    • Thank you! Sorry to hear you have PC issues – I hate it when they go wrong. I loved XP too and then work upgraded to 7. My husband has 8 and I don’t get on with it at all. Hope you are fully recovered now? xx

  4. I really, really like this card!! Love the composition, the color choices, and those background splatters. And I adore those leaves–they are super! Thanks for the Halloween fun!
I’m still not up to snuff; my right eye caused more problems than my left, which surprised both the surgeon and me. I just hope I get to do some Halloween crafting before the actual day gets here.
I do hope that your job gives you some respite; they should give you a year off with pay!

    • Aww, so sorry to hear that Roberta – have been wondering how you were getting along. For me, once next week is out the way things should settle down – but then I always say that 🙂 🙂 🙂 xx

  5. I am so sorry but I just cannot make myself afraid of your pumpkins, they just make me smile. They have such cute comical little faces.

I love the vine pattern and your splash of vibrant orange, as well as the luminescent moon. Fab postcard.

PS How was the big smoke?

    • Ha ha – I’m the same, I feel a bit sorry for them- as if they are the ones left after 31st October!!! The smoke was fine, although I barely got to see it xx

  6. Love your pumpkins… they are… ahem… smashing :O) *feel free to slap lol* Thanks for joining in again hun and… thanks for eating extra Sunday dinner on my behalf, I really enjoyed that delish gravy ;O)

    • Ha – do you know it was good gravy, even if I do say so myself 🙂 Glad you like my pumpkins *snigger* – I’ll over look the smashing bit!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
