Autumn Wreath with rusty pumpkin

No, you’re not imagining it I really am posting twice today. I was lucky enough to win a guest designer spot over at Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog and so am sharing project for their current challenge, #17, which has the theme “Happy Fall Y’All.”

I love making wreaths, even though I do get in a right old mess and making this was no exception!

I’ve used some paper by Bo Bunny, that has been in my stash for a couple of years, for the background and layered it on to a mat of terracotta cardstock, distressing and inking the edges of both. Next, I punched out lots of branches and sprigs from scraps of card in autumnal colours. To create the wreath I drew a circle onto the base layer and then simply, if somewhat messily, arranged the punched branches. To create depth I did several layers, tucking in extra pieces until it felt right and then adding berries and tiny acorn buttons.

I made a little arrangement in one corner using a rusty mini pumpkin together with more branches and berries, a die-cut heart and a paper sunflower.

On the other side is a mini tag.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. I love this wreath! I used to make large wreaths…and I miss doing that. I should make little ones like this! So lovely! I was laughing because I have those acorn button thingies in my stash, too! Thanks so very much for being one of our guest designers at Craft Hoarders this month! It is wonderful to have you!

  2. I love your wreath Lisette, it’s so colourful like the real leaves outside, and those tiny acorns are so cute… lol now I will need to make tiny acorns πŸ™‚

    • Thank you. I was wondering if there is some sort of acorn mould out there (not sure I could do it freehand) – great chance to play with the melt pot πŸ™‚ (BTW – I think I saw you were picked as a favourite over at CHA – CONGRATULATIONS, fabulous news :))

  3. Wow, I’d buzz by anytime to see that great pumpkin wreath card, so pretty. Looks like lots of work punching out all those leaves, layering then adding the berries, acorn buttons which are so darned cute. What a great idea to embellish as you have, all the little extras is what makes your creations so special. You know just how much to do.
I have some of that rusty metal that was popular years ago, could cut out couple cute little pumpkins to put on something.
I’ve been kind of finessing some of my arrangements, felt like some of it was just too much, changed other things, feel better now .Going thru the Fall decoration boxes to organize put out in shed til after Thanksgiving. Been trying to get some other little jobs done so they’re not hanging over me any more, high time to get them done.
Hubs is out working on wintering the chicken coop so our feathery girls won’t get too cold.
Have great week. Try not to work too hard.

    • Thank you and so glad to hear your feeling better. We don’t do fall decorations over here although I could probably rustle up something from my stash. I will decorate for Halloween though (just for a week). Would love to see your dΓ©cor, bet they are fab. Never thought of making my own rusty metal embellies – sure the big dies could do that, will give it a try. Take care of you and your chicks πŸ™‚

  4. This wreath is absolutely gorgeous!! I can’t imagine how long it took you to punch and place all those leaves! And I love the acorns, berries, and rusty pumpkin-such great accents. Lovely, lovely work, as usual. xox

    • Thank you. What I didn’t put in my post was that I was making this as I should have been getting ready to go away. In one way that helped, as there was no time to dither I just had to do it but as the clock was counting down towards my departure I just got more and more glue everywhere!!! πŸ™‚

  7. You have really made a joyful card. Who wouldn’t love to see fall coming with these colors on parade?! Your embellishments are wonderful and those acorns are the cherry-on-top. The ocher-over-text paper, with the terracotta card stock, is the perfect backdrop for your wreath. Thanks so much for sharing.
