A splash of colour

This week’s challenge over at City Crafter Challenge Blog is Colour Splash. The rules are toย use black / grey and white as your main colour and a splash one other colour. The Design Team samples, including guest designer Marina’s, ย are fabulous, so be sure to buzz over and take a look.

I started by stamping the main image on to some grey and white spotted paper.I could have coloured the main image, but I love the magic of paper piecing so went for that instead. For a simple image, this was quite fiddly to do. I stamped the flowers on to a red designer paper and the leaves on to dark grey paper, cute them out and glued to the stamped image.

I trimmed the image down and the layered it on to black card before applying the ribbon and a separate bow.

Then I created more mats and layers from grey and black card.

As this card would be suitable for a number of different occasions I decided not to add a sentiment at this stage. I did think it would be a good birthday card for a friend whose football team play in these colours.

I love this challenge theme and would love to play around with lots more images and different colours. Unfortunately, I am currently swamped with work but I shall definitely return to these in the next few weeks.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Wow, this really is gorgeous, I love the impact of the red and the dotted paper was a perfect choice too. I really wanted to play with this theme too, but my printer is temporarily down, boo hoo! ~Diane

    • Oh Diane that’s such a shame. I love it when someone I “know” is joining in the same challenge and I love seeing your projects too.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
