So yesterday, when I was all in a stew about driving the van, I got a phone call to say that my big supermarket delivery (for work) was delayed. That would be the one I ordered online last week at 4.30am with a guaranteed delivery slot. I could feel my hysteria rising, especially as they didn’t seem to be able to say when it would be delivered. I could have easily burst into tears at that point but instead, I did what any crafter might do, I took some time out and did some colouring in!!!
This is my second piece for the current Crafty Boots challenge which is to do something that takes you out of your comfort zone. Now colouring with Promarkers may not be the crafting skill I find the easiest, but I can tell you it was so comforting to do, and just what I needed to help me de-stress and get everything in perspective.
The image is one of the same set of Easter designs from Cuddly Buddly. I tried to get a bit of texture on the chick by using a variety of mark making strokes and then blending. I used various yellow and purple cards and papers and layered them up, placing the image on top. All the layers have been edged with Victorian Velvet distress stain.
I stuck a strip of lemon yellow mini pom-pom trim along the bottom, then made an arrangement of paper flowers and tiny eggs in one corner and a purple, polka-dot ribbon in another.
By the time I’d finished colouring all my traumas had vanished and, eventually, my supermarket order did arrive. I’ve survived my nightmare week AND it’s Friday – hurray!
