Summer wishes

Just about to begin my final week of working away for the summer. It has flown by, which in some respects is good but, equally, I feel it has been a bit of a lost summer with work/life balance firmly weighted towards work. This I week I will be carried along on a wave of giddiness knowing that next weekend there will be no packing up, ironing of aprons, washing of tea towels, internet shopping delivery and sorting, weighing of flour, checking of registers or cooking of pasta. And….I do have a little afternoon tea date with Mr Beez.

It’s week two of our current “Fair and Square” challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges where we are asking you to share a project that is pretty and square. Simples! Today I have a card that I made using a pretty shell image from the Gecko Galz Beachy Jewels collage sheet.

I’ve layered it up on some hessian/burlap and corrugated card, both of which have been dry brushed with gesso.

In one corner I’ve added some wisps of gauze and some sweetheart blossoms.

The ribbon is seam binding that I have coloured with Dried Marigold and Tea Dye distress inks.

The little stars are tiny beads from my stash.

Don’t forget to buzz over to Crafty Boots and see what the rest of the DT and our guest designers have created. We’d love it if you took the time to share your projects with us all and there’s a chance to earn a guest designer spot if you do.

Here’s to a good week and thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Lots and lots of squares in this one and as pretty as a picture. I bet this card was fun to make, where do you get all of your ideas from?

PS Have a good week, it will soon all be over.

  2. I love all the texture in this piece, as well as the soft colors. My very favorite touch is the 3 little stars-so pretty!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
