Sparkle

I am renowned for being a bit of a magpie, glitter and bling are my kinda thing. During conversations I am easily distracted if I spot something sparkly! So when we decided that the next challenge at Anything But A Card would be sparkle, I couldn’t wait to play with my glittery stash. Surprisingly, I have ended up making something quite subdued by my standards:

I’ve used one of my MDF crowns as the base but wanted to give it a vintage/shabby feel rather than a full-on princess bling look.

I covered the base with some music paper from Teresa Collins. I inked the edges and then added silver glitter all around the edge. I used the new flake/glitter glue from Creative Expressions which does the job brilliantly.

I used more paper (it’s double sided, with a peach coloured pattern on the reverse) to die-cut some flowers, shaping the layers with a cocktail stick and then adding silver glitter glue. Some of the flowers have clear gem centres and others have  silver glitter.

I added more gems to the points of the crown and also at the base.

The words were printed on my computer – I must give credit to Artchix Studio as something similar appeared on one of their collage sheets. I’ve outlined them with silver glitter glue.

The finishing touch was, naturally, a butterfly.

  1. This is gorgeous! Love the sentiment, how true. I love glitter too so I can totally relate. I will check out that new glitter glue too, it has a lot of glitter to it. ~Diane

    • Thanks Diane – glad you’re with me on the glitter. The glue is a plain one but designed to take glitter and gilding flakes, I love it as you get a small one with a brush as well as a normal sized bottle.

  2. How appropriate, as a certain self confessed princess has been out wearing her crown in public again this weekend. Lol!

I love all of the sparkle and bling on your crown, great design and the sentiment is brilliant.

    • Thank you – although I was restrained on the project I did get a lot of glitter on my fingers, but I quite liked the silver finger look!!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
