I am renowned for being a bit of a magpie, glitter and bling are my kinda thing. During conversations I am easily distracted if I spot something sparkly! So when we decided that the next challenge at Anything But A Card would be sparkle, I couldn’t wait to play with my glittery stash. Surprisingly, I have ended up making something quite subdued by my standards:
I’ve used one of my MDF crowns as the base but wanted to give it a vintage/shabby feel rather than a full-on princess bling look.
I covered the base with some music paper from Teresa Collins. I inked the edges and then added silver glitter all around the edge. I used the new flake/glitter glue from Creative Expressions which does the job brilliantly.
I used more paper (it’s double sided, with a peach coloured pattern on the reverse) to die-cut some flowers, shaping the layers with a cocktail stick and then adding silver glitter glue. Some of the flowers have clear gem centres and others have silver glitter.
I added more gems to the points of the crown and also at the base.
The words were printed on my computer – I must give credit to Artchix Studio as something similar appeared on one of their collage sheets. I’ve outlined them with silver glitter glue.
The finishing touch was, naturally, a butterfly.
Be sure to buzz over to the Anything But A Card blog and take a look at what the rest of the Design Team have been up to. There are still two weeks left to run for this challenge so you have plenty of time to sort out your sparkles if you’d like to join us.
