Smiles, memories and why some things are best forgotten

A beautifully sunny day in Hull yesterday and a very disappointing result for my team. Now they haven’t been playing brilliantly but yesterday there were some very dubious refereeing decisions that didn’t help matters and without them it could all have been so different.

To cheer myself up I have not only had a toasted teacake but crumpets as well and have been having a look at some of the lovely photo’s from last weekend’s Amy and Friends retreat. You can see them over on their Facebook page. There’s even one of me cuddling the adorable little Mohammed. This afternoon I decided to make some more little canvases in memory of the day:

These were inspired by some done by Scarlett Clay, Knox’s mum who introduced me to fibre paste medium. This is thick textured paste that you spread on. I applied it to small canvases, added the butterfly images and left it to dry. I’ve used some butterfly images from The Graphics Fairy.

Once dry, I coloured each canvas with distress inks – Spiced Marmalade on one and Shabby Shutters on the other with a little Vintage Photo on both. I then added a second butterfly over the top of the original and some coordinating jewels to the centre of the bodies.

P1050817 I added some ribbon trim, coloured with coordinating distress stains, to each canvas and added a little pearl to the centre of each flower.

The finishing touch was to add some appropriate words.

Happy memories of smiles at the Amy and Friends retreat.

Apologies if you normally receive email notifications of my posts. The widget seems to be on strike temporarily. I am doing my best to fix it. However, I continue to post every day.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Lisette these are beautiful! Today was my last day working for Amy and Friends and on my train home I saw these on your blog and they are perfect at expressing the love I have had with AAF over the last 4 years. I would love to purchase these if possible. <3 Ami Knowles
