Smile for the camera

This week’s challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog is to use a black and white photograph in your project. I love using vintage images but find it really hard to choose, spend ages looking then forget why I’m looking and have to start from the beginning!! I hope you like the one I eventually chose for my card.

I’ve used some designer papers from my stash and black card to create mats and layers to showcase the photograph. Coincidently, the papers were part of a prize, donated by Artful Delight,Β that I won over at City Crafter back in November,

Along the base I’ve applied a strip of white organza rose trim and sandwiched it between two strips of white crochet lace.

The butterflies were punched from some of the same designer papers and, as luck would have it, the little bow was in my box of scraps and I added a stamped sentiment that I felt was appropriate.

Isn’t that just one cheeky little madam in the photo?

I’m allowed to say that because, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, that cheeky little madam is yours truly, aged about 3!

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Beautiful card and you were such a cute little girl! (I’m sure you still are, lol) I love all the frames you cut and the butterflies, flowers and lace make it just perfect! This would be a great idea for a Mothers Day card too. ~Diane

    • Thanks Diane. I don’t think I was ever cute – or this was the one day when I pulled it off!!!! I thought it would have been a great mother’s day card (wish I’d thought of the idea whilst my mum was alive) but am going to give it to my Aunt who has a birthday in a few weeks.

  2. You look like you are having so much fun with the person taking the photo, it must have been a happy day.

Fabulous project, lovely papers and the embellishments are just perfect. And weren’t you sweet!

    • I can remember it vaguely, at the time we lived in Croydon, especially the floor being covered with petals from either blossom or rhododendron. As for being sweet – I think this was probably the last time!!! xx

  3. adorable! I mean the card!, lol you as well. So much work and thought into this. just love the flowers and lace. Adorable

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
