Signs of summer

Another week and another new challenge starts over at Crafty Boots Challenges. Our theme for the next fortnight is “Butterflies and Bees,” two of my favourite summer motifs! I haven’t seen any butterflies just yet, although I did come across a moth, but there have been a couple of enormous bumble bees buzzing about near my garage. As I used quite a few bees for our last challenge, I thought that today I’d go down the butterfly route:

I used my favourite blend of summery distress inks – Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry, swooshing them on with a blending tool and then spritzing with water. To tone it down a little, I used Rusty Hinge and the fabulous Oodles of Doodles stamp, by Karen Hayselden for Stampotique.

The vine stamp is from my stash and the butterfly by Hero Arts.

The sunflowers, masquerading as giant daisies, are also by Stampotique.

For those of you who are more of the bee persuasion – watch this space, I have plenty of bees coming your way!

Here’s to a calm, and hopefully sunny and summery week. Thanks for buzzing by.
