Polka dots is the name of the game over at City Crafter Challenge Blog this week. You can’t help but love a splash of spots in a project can you? They always look good. Today I’ve gone for an almost monochromatic look. I say almost because… well take a look and you’ll see:
Yes, I know I said that butterflies would be taking a rest for a little while and I really tried hard not to include them here, honest! I’d fully intended to add some coordinating flowers to finish this project but as lovely as they were, they just didn’t cut the mustard as far as I was concerned. Then I spotted a little red butterfly and placed it there, just to see what it might look like. Perfect! The pop of colour was just what was needed. I tried substituting other embellishments that were the same colour but only the butterfly would do!
So lots of mats and layers from monochrome designer papers, including black polka dots – each piece is mounted on neutral parchment type paper.
The ribbon is seam binding – I spritzed it with water and scrunched it up to give it a crinkly texture.
The butterfly is an image from The Gecko Galz Pretty Butterflies collage set and I printed it out in three different sizes and layered them up.
To finish, I added some paper flowers that were painted with gesso, sprinkled with a little glitter and topped with white buttons.
Thanks for buzzing by and here’s to a happy, sunny weekend 🙂
