I was very excited when I buzzed over to Sunday Stampers to find out what the theme for this week’s challenge was. Firstly, the theme is “dream” which straight away I knew would give me the opportunity to use one of my new Darkroom Door stamps. However, I also learned I was the winner of one of Hels’ very generous giveaways so have a haul of crafty goodies to look forward to. What more could a girl dream of (see what I did there?!) when she has resolved not to buy any new stash in 2014.
I decided not to use canvas for this, but opted instead for a piece of chipboard from my stash that was conveniently cut to the size I wanted. I painted it with white acrylic and left it to dry. I decided to stamp directly on to the background, which is always a gamble, but particularly when stamping on to a pristine white one. I used black Archival ink and one of my new Darkroom Door String Inspiration stamps with the word dream. If you saw the little butterflies yesterday, this is in the same collection.
I added some Black Soot distress stain around the edge and then stamped blossom sprig again using black Archival ink. I also breathed a sigh of relief that I’d managed to do the stamping without messing it up!
I stamped the butterfly on to some coconut white card and cut it out, shaped the wings with scissors and the applied to the canvas with glue gel, leaving the wings to stand free.
Be sure to buzz over to Hels’ blog, there’s a ton of inspiration including a fabulous make over for an old coffee tin. You can also catch her on Create and Craft today doing lots of lovely stuff with a Melt Pot. I of course will not be watching as today, sadly, I am back in harness at work. 😉
Thanks for buzzing by.
