Going with the grain

What a day eh? When they said it would snow, they weren’t kidding. It started here in Sheffield yesterday morning and more or less continued until late this afternoon. This is what it’s looking like:

So, unable to really go anywhere, I spent the day playing craft and making a BIG mess. You know, the type of messy where you can’t see the floor and the double sided tape sticks to your socks so you end up trailing it round with you. Actually, you’re probably not that messy!

The challenge over at City Crafter this week has the theme of woodgrain and here’s the card I have made:

I’ve used some woodgrain card and mounted it onto some pastel pink and topped it with a little doilly. I made a double bow from some pink satin ribbon and made an arrangement of pink and white paper roses and pale green fronds.

I punched a little pink butterfly and gave it a rose for its body. I stamped the sentiment, using Vintage Photo distress ink on pink card, and glued it so stood away from the card itself.  I also added a swirl of pearls.

To finish, I popped a strip of crochet lace across the bottom of the card and added pearls and pink buttons as the finishing touch.

Having not been outside today, I’m hoping to go and play in the snow tomorrow. I can’t seem to persuade Mr Beez to take me for a ride on my sledge (I still have the one I was given when I was six) but he did seem to like the idea of building a snowman. We’ll see!
