Going to seed

Back in the days when I worked for the BBC in London, at Christmas, my boss would present all the ladies in our office with a little lavender bag. In the summer he would bring in little bunches of sweet peas. He was also chief tea maker and you didn’t interfere with the teapot if you knew what was good for you, I also seem to remember that he would wash all the mugs up afterwards too. It didn’t matter what headline news story was breaking, we always got our tea. Happy happy times 🙂

I was drawn into remembering those days when trying to find an image for this week’s challenge at Papercraft Star. Naturally, I turned to The Graphics Fairy and found a lovely lavender seed packet to use:

I’ve mounted the image on black card and then used my new Tattered lace die (the square one) and cut out two – one in pale lilac and the other in deep lavender. Then I layered the whole thing onto some cream card.

I ran a piece of ivory seam binding down the side of the card before punching out cream and deep lavender butterflies which I arranged around the frame.

To finish, I popped on a few purple gems.

Isn’t the die stunning?  I don’t think I would have thought of this colour combination had it not been for the seed packet, but I love how it works. Be sure to take a look at the lovely projects over at Papercraft Star, the DT have been really creative.

  1. Your lavender image is gorgeous, I can almost smell the lavender, and your card design picks out all of the subtle tones and delicateness.
