Diamonds and butterfly

I can’t believe I’ve reached the penultimate project of my blogiversary project in support of  Amy and Friends. That means you have just two days left to enter my giveaway. Scroll up to the top of my home page to read all about how you can enter and win a pile of crafty stash.

Today I have a tag to show you, which I shall be sharing over at Sunday Stampers where this week’s theme is “diamonds.”

P1050250I’m enjoying playing with distress inks and use these to create the background for this tag. I used cut and dry foam to apply Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick and Seedless Preserves. Scrumptious! Once they were applied a used my Dylusions distressed diamond stencil and spritzed through it with water. This achieves the same ghosting effect that you get with water-based ink sprays. Once dry (well almost dry, I’m impatient and my heat gun was too far away), I rubbed some more distress inks through the stencil.

I stamped on some script using Rusty Hinge distress ink, then stamped the flowers, by Stampotique and butterfly, by Hero Arts. My original intention had been to stamp another butterfly and layer it over the top, but decided I like the direct stamping so much I’d leave it alone, with the exception of adding some white highlights.

The words are by Artchix. The ribbon is seam binding that has been coloured with Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade distress stains.

Thanks for buzzing by and bee sure to come back soon 🙂

  1. Love colors and the tag, so gorgeous. You never fail to amaze me. Don’t know how you keep making more and more inspired creations but you sure do. Glad you shared this project.

  2. Gorgeous! I love the beautifully bright background colors and the butterfly is lovely! I always think I don’t care for orange, but then I see something like this and find myself loving it!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
