Fresh with the tang of citrus

Hope you’re having a fun filled and relaxing Saturday. I’ve got that morning after the night before feeling, unfortunately without the benefit of actually having a night before. So, having been deprived all week, a little light crafting was definitely in order before cracking on with chores. Here’s a card that I’ve made to share over at City Crafter Challenge Blog for their current challenge, #209, which is to use all three citrus colours – orange, lemon and lime:

I’ve created mats and layers with white and dusky lime card, running the white card through an embossing folder.

I’ve used some lovely spotted ribbon from my stash and topped it with a lime green bow.

The flowers were cut using a Spellbinders die. I’ve done a double layer for each, to give them a bit of life, and then popped on a button centre.

The finishing touch is a stamped butterfly.

You’d think that I would have been able to rustle up this card without too much mess wouldn’t you? Er…unfortunately, that would be a big fat no! I don’t quite know how I managed to create such chaos, but that’s exactly what I did. I’d take a photograph to show you if I wasn’t so embarrassed!

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Lisette, I love that citrus card, the colors are beautiful on the white, may I ask which dots embossing folder did you use? I just love those dots.

    • Thank you. The embossing folder is called Decorative Dots and was in the Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-bration flyer. I don’t think it’s currently in the catalogue, but it may appear when the new one comes out which I think is fairly soon 🙂

    • Thanks Sandra – the colours just make me want to sit in the garden with a long cool drink, but not quite warm enough yet!!!

  2. Wonderful zesty card, great colours and all the embellishments just jump off the screen.

PS How can one create without making a mess?

    • Thank you. Well I find it impossible to create without mess and I know I’m not alone, but this time it was mess of epic proportions!! xx

  3. You couldn’t make any more of mess than I do. I get things all cleaned up nice but then I start on a project and bam, watch out hurricane mess all over. I can’t seem to create without a mess. Course I haven’t shown photos of my messes either, lol. We always think our messes are worse than anybody elses’ but most likely not so. Hope you have great Mother’s day and wishing you a very happy week Forgot to tell you, gorgeous colorful, perfect card.

    • Thank you so much. Housework and tidy are not my priorities in life so even when my crafty space is tidy some people would freak!!!! Being time efficient I always think “What’s the point of putting it away, I’ll need it tomorrow.”

  4. We’ve had a full week of rain and gloom, and this is so bright and cheerful! Brought a smile to my face! The embossed white layers give the perfect amount of texture without taking away from the beautiful bold colors!

    • Oh gosh, that’s a lot of rain. I think we maybe having our summer here in the UK – no rain for two days now!!

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
