Butterfly box

I feel as if I have been missing in action this week. After a very relaxed Bank Holiday Monday, the rest of the week has been taken up delivering Easter Holiday cooking sessions for children. It’s been very full on so I am very much looking forward to the weekend. At this stage I haven’t quite decided whether to add some April Fool’s fun into the mix – I’ll let you know!

As we start a new month it’s also the start of a new challenge over at the Gecko Galz. The theme is roses, lace and butterflies and you can check out all the details over on the blog. I’ve managed to squeeze all three into my artist’s trading block:

The base of my block is actually an old face cream box! It’s not actually a cube, but near enough for it to merit a transformation. Once the lid was glued down I made some panels from cardstock which I embossed and inked.

The panels are all images from the Gecko Galz Butterfly Kisses collage set. I’ve layered them on to some neutral cardstock after first distressing and inking the edges.

The butterflies have been decoupaged to add further dimension.

I wrapped a band of lace around the box before applying the panels to each side and adding a cluster of roses to the top. You can’t see them, but I created some “feet” from some giant brass paper fasteners.

Thanks for buzzing by.

  1. Lots and lots of dimension and texture in this amazing project. It is great how you have managed to work butterflies, lace and roses into this project.

It’s nice to have you home again, you have been missed.

PS I have several boxes knocking about that I have saved to up-cycle but I never get around to it, I really should follow your lead.

I really appreciate it when people take time to leave a comment, thank you so much for doing so :)
