Butterfly Birdcage

Well eldest son landed safely in China and has been reunited with his suitcase. That text came at 2.45am ) this morning (9.45am in China  and I think subconsciously I had been awake in anticipation! Since then – not a dickie bird so I’ve decided the best strategy is to assume no news is good news!

Anyway, on to today’s post which is a variation yesterday’s little matchbox:

I’m so in love with these little rosebuds from Wild Orchid Crafts I had to use them again. Plus I had lots of little butterflies left over so this seemed a good way to use them.

I’ve used a wooden birdcage, conveniently already painted white, and added some gorgeous lace from one of my Really Reasonable Ribbon Club assortments. I dyed some white seam binding with Victorian Velvet distress stain and folded it over to make it nice and thin. I applied some over the lace and made a teeny bow for the top.

In addition to the punched butterflies and rosebuds I added a few pearls and a chit-chat sticker. I thought this might make a nice tag for a wedding gift or card.

I shall be sharing this over at Really Reasonable Ribbon for their current challenge which is “things with wings.”
