There seems to be a theme developing this week which has seen a profusion of floral projects. It’s not that blog challenges have been the same, or even similar, it’s just been my interpretation. Today’s project is for this week’s City Crafter challenge which requires the use of burlap, or what I know as hessian:
I decided to go with my initial instinct which was to keep this fairly clean and simple. To make the flower I first ran some vellum through my Grand Calibur using a Spellbinders M’bossabilities folder. Then I used a Spellbinder’s die to cut three blooms from the vellum. I layered these up and then gave the petals bit of a ruffle to create a daisy type flower. This is a new discovery and one that I’m very pleased with. I’ve given the flower a button centre with a bow made from a piece of burlap.
I’ve layered the flower onto a square of burlap, white card and then green spotted designer paper. I popped another strip of burlap across the card. I was very tempted to stop here, but decided to add a couple of extra details by way of a button, a tiny butterfly and a stamped sentiment.
You can always be sure of seeing beautiful projects over at City Crafter and this week is no exception. The variety of projects that the Design Team has come up with is incredible an just goes to show how versatile burlap can be. Be sure to buzz on over and take a look.
