Bright and beautiful with small creatures

Yesterday I spent a large part of the day in York, still feeling a bit rubbish, and I didn’t even make it to Betty’s.  What’s more, I only managed three pancakes which is way below my personal best. 🙁

The theme for this week’s Sunday Stampers is to use bright colours – yay, an excuse to play with inks.

Sadly, my Dylusions ink sprays are almost all gone so for this I used distress inks. I’ve used Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Worn Lipstick, Squeezed Lemonade and a smidge of Shabby Shutters. I used cut and dry foam to apply them, overlaying colours here and there. Then I applied white ink to a dotty stencil and pressed this onto the tag so it left a negative impression.

I’ve used black inks to stamp the branches and flowers using some Inkadinkado stamps. The twirly coils are by Stampotique and the sentiment is from a set by Chocolate Baroque. I’ve used a white pen to add highlights here and there.

A bit of a dilemma when it came to the butterfly. I intended to colour it with distress inks, but then quite like the effect of the white on top of the vivid colours so left it like that.

But you know me, once an idea is in my head I have to try it out. I was itching to know what a colourful butterfly would look like so, with the technology that is glue gel, held another audition for the lead role and this was the result.

I have a feeling I’m not done with this challenge yet so watch this space!

Thanks for buzzing by.
